Lana Plummer, M.A., R.C.C.

As human beings, we share a few fundamental needs in order to thrive within the intricate network and complex rhythm of our society. It has been my experience that the most prominent among people across all demographics is the need to feel both seen and heard. The world is a noisy place with endless competing demands for our time and our attention, and the unfortunate result for many is a heavy sense of being buried beneath it all, with our own needs lying somewhere at the bottom of the rubble. This. Can. Change.

Together, you and I can locate and unearth your needs within a safe therapeutic relationship free of judgment, distraction, or pressure. As a therapist, I am often in awe as I watch the physical response of each client as they experience undivided focus and engaged attention upon only themselves during their sessions. The entire body seems to exhale as their story unfolds. This can be you.

Clients can often feel guarded as they consider therapy, afraid that there is something wrong with them, and that shining light on their deepest thoughts or feelings may create discomfort or unease for those who hold the flashlight. This can leave them feeling stuck, trapped in the shame of their emotions, and very alone. I assure you that there is nothing too dark or too scary for you to share with me, as my previous career in policing has given me strong shoulders, resilience to darkness, and absolute clarity in knowing that every single person has a story and a path as unique as their fingerprint. There is both immense power and great freedom in coming to understand that you are exactly where your unique experiences led you and expecting that you should somehow be anywhere else or any other way without an element of change is not realistic, reasonable, or fair. People do the best they can with what they know and understand. Every single person is capable of learning, growing, and changing. No judgment. I will hold that flashlight steady as you trust me in those dark corners, and together we will plan a healthier pathway, one where you no longer stand in judgment of yourself.

Many people feel frustrated and disoriented when they cannot seem to move forward with their vision of what they want in life, despite knowing “logically” what they need to do. Lifestyle changes, parenting style adjustments, changing how one communicates with others…knowing better and doing better require the critical connecting components of both understanding the origins of problematic behaviours and learning new skills to create change. Having an objective listener who can both identify and mirror back any potential contributors to such “blocks” is invaluable. Deconstructing and diminishing associated anxiety through skills development is a game-changer. I am with you all the way. Let’s do this.

Who am I? I am a parent, a partner, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. I have always been passionate about mental health and wellness, and have woven it into every aspect of my life. I am a retired police officer, with over 24 years of service in the Lower Mainland. I am as warm and compassionate as I am direct and a straight shooter. I know trauma. I am authentic and relatable, and absolutely invite you to enter our sessions as your authentic self. Connection is borne of authenticity and I am ready to connect with you.
