Erin Perkes (she/her) - MA, RCC

Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist working with clients on single incident, as well as chronic trauma

Do any of these sound familiar to you?

I should be over what happened by now.

I know what I need to do, but I can’t get myself to do it.

I want to feel better about myself and who I am.

I want to change how I behave in my relationships.

I’m exhausted and burned out, and I’m not sure what to do.

I love my kids, but they are driving me crazy!

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, learning, time and awareness, we get stalled or stuck. I am an EMDR Certified Therapist, which means I put ongoing work and training into being highly competent at using EMDR Therapy as a tool for (un)learning, change, healing and growth.

You might have heard of EMDR as a trauma therapy, but EMDR is for anyone who has a current challenge they want to work on and move forward from. It’s a powerful approach that can create dramatic shifts, and lasting, meaningful change.

As a therapist, I am focussed on relationship and curiosity, committed to working collaboratively and compassionately with each human I get the privilege of journeying with. I embrace Adlerian concepts of valuing uniqueness of individuals, encouragement, and early attachment experiences, and hold dear Alfred Adler’s words that, “everything can also be different.” I believe strongly in peoples’ ability to make what they feel are positive changes in their lives.

As a human outside of the office, you might find me out in the garden with a fresh cup of coffee, snuggling one of my pets, or baking in the kitchen with a show in the background. I look for moments of play, presence and connection in daily life, and am constantly on my toes as a parent of neurodivergent children.

My Therapeutic approach is informed by Adlerian Theory, and includes:

Attachment theory

Polyvagal theory

Narrative therapy

Somatic approaches

Cognitive-behavioural methods

I possess Level I and II training through the BCPFFA to provide informed therapy to Fire Fighters and other First Responders, and participate in ongoing advanced EMDR trainings to work with complex trauma survivors.

I completed my Master’s Degree at Adler University in Vancouver, BC, and am registered with the BCACC as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #11645).

I also provide Clinical Supervision and Consultation services to other therapists, and am an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant.
