Sarah finished her Masters in Counselling Psychology in 2010 with City University of Seattle and has been practicing as a school counsellor for 17 years. After completing her Expressive Arts Play Therapy Certificate and receiving specialized clinical supervision in the use of sand tray she started her private practice Expressive Child Therapies. Since then she completed her certification in Filial Family Play Therapy and is currently in the process of becoming certified as a Synergetic Play Therapist.
Sarah has foundations in trauma informed practices and has a keen awareness of neurobiology and how “stuck” trauma may impact the ability for children to self regulate. As a counsellor in the schools, Sarah developed a passion for providing young children with the emotional competence and social skills that build their confidence and prevent future mental health concerns. Ultimately, she aims to build children’s felt sense of resilience while helping empower the family system and expand the helping community so that children have the connections that help them feel validated and like they belong and have the support they need.
